Curious about the three most-sold vehicles are in the current auto market? From third to first place, the Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ford F-series are the most popular in the industry. After-sales were hit hard because of COVID-19 shutdowns, sales have started to recover and these American companies are starting to see a promising future on the horizon. This class of vehicles is at the top of its field for good reason, and that trend shows no sign of slowing down in 2021.

Trucks used to be judged primarily by their ruggedness and practicality. This has changed in recent years, as newer models are more refined and technologically advanced than ever before. The 2021 Ram 1500, for example, focused its improvements just as much on its interior as it did on its performance. A spacious cabin and upscale detailing are what’s used to differentiate Ram from its competitors, who are all also pushing the limitations of what’s possible to improve the engine and fuel efficiency.

Not all brands take this approach, however. The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has committed to improving its performance, featuring an impressive 420 horsepower 6.2 liter V8 engine while offering less passenger space than its competition. With various models coming with different features at different price points, the Silverado hopes to remain at least the second best-selling vehicle in 2021.

If 2020’s trends continue, it will be difficult for any auto manufacturer to dethrone Ford’s F-series, which has outsold second-place Chevrolet by almost 200,000 units so far this year. The versatility of the different models offered point to why they sell so well, as any consumer’s needs can be met whether they be for weekday hauling or weekend joyriding. From what we’ve seen so far, Ford seeks to improve both its performance and interior comfort, making it seem likely that it will continue to sell well into the calendar year.

Americans love American-made trucks, and for good reason. These vehicles are practical, functional, and fun to drive on a regular basis. With oil prices at historic lows, consumers are more willing to invest in trucks as opposed to more fuel-efficient alternatives. We’re not surprised that they continue to dominate the automotive market, and don’t expect that to change any time soon.
